    Welcome to the Kawishiwi Ranger District! This office is located in the town of Ely. The edifice is a LEED (Leadership Ecology Energy Design) facility.What this means is the design of the edifice used practices such as: using local materials, using recycled materials or materials that can be recycled, utilize of energy efficient automatic lights that turn off when no ane is in the room, low water menstruation in the toilets,  landscapeing around the edifice that filters the rainwater before entering into the streets or surrounding areas, apply of low emisson carpet and pigment.

    Welcome to the LaCroix Ranger District.  The mural in this expanse is covered with dense wood and spotted with numerous lakes.  Destination highlights include the Vermilion River and its falls and gorge, the Echo Trail, and the Boundary Waters Canoe Expanse Wilderness.  Also nearby is scenic Lake Vermilion.  Recreational activities include boating, angling, camping, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and much more.

    The commune office and company heart is located in the town of Cook on United states Hwy 53 midway betwixt Duluth and International Falls.  The log visitor heart has regional information, many wildlife mounts, and a gift shop with maps, books, and other items for sale.

    Welcome to the Laurentian Ranger District. This district is the southern portion of the Superior National Forest stretching from McCarthy State Park north of Hibbing, MN to near the north shore of Lake Superior. The district office is in Aurora. The Superior National Wood Scenic Byway bisects the District from Aurora to Silvery Bay. Information technology links communities steeped in the tradition of iron mining, logging and tourism.

    Welcome to the Tofte Ranger District.  The geography of this area runs from the rocky shores of Lake Superior to the miniature mountains of the Sawtooth Range.  There are enough of lakes, lots of forest, and miles of wilderness.  Recreational opportunities abound with campgrounds of all sorts, trails for hiking, skiing, and motor use, and multiple entry points to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.The District office is located in the town of Tofte, correct on scenic Minnesota Highway 61.  Maps and some souvenir items are for sale at the part.

  • Divide Lake Campground & Backcountry Sites area description

    The Divide Lake Campground provides a northwoods camping ground experience in a small (only iii sites) secluded campground located near many recreational opportunities.  A walk-down canoe launch provides access to Split up Lake and its stocked trout population while Separate Lake Trail provides a 2 mile hike with benches and scenic overlooks.  Other nearby lakes, a boat ramp, and a line-fishing pier give the camper even more than chances to enjoy the outdoors.  Of particular interest is the fact that FR 172 in this area is on the Laurentian Split with waters on the Divide Lake side flowing to Lake Superior and those on the Tanner Lake side flowing northward to Hudson's Bay.

    Whitefish Lake Rustic Campground and the Timber-Frear Area includes a three site rustic campground and eleven backcountry campsites scattered on 5 lakes.  These lakes, along with four others, are interconnected with portages to grade an first-class canoe route and camping feel outside of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  In that location is no boat launch for trailered boats at Whitefish Lake, carry downward access just.

    Four additional rustic campgrounds, on Toohey, Fourmile, Wilson, and Windy Lakes are nearby.
